Born 1944 in Ehrhorn/Soltau (Lower Saxony), grew up in Hamburg, lives in Vienna since 1964. Studied musicology and art history in Hamburg and Vienna (thesis on "Carl Debrois van Bruyck (1828 - 1902). His Life and Work as Music Writer. Including a Family Chronicle and an Index of his Compositions and Writings"). Worked inter alia for the Wiener Kammeroper. Long-standing cooperation with Anthony van Hoboken on the latter's Haydn Index. 1972-2007 collaborator, from 1985 until 1997 also member of the Kommission für Musikforschung der Österreichischen Akademie der Wissenschaften (Commission for Music Research of the Austrian Academy of Sciences). From 1974 until 1990 scientific secretary, since then board member of the Gesellschaft zur Herausgabe von Denkmälern der Tonkunst in Österreich (DTÖ) (Society for the Publication of Musical Monuments in Austria). Collaboration with the Anton Bruckner Institute Linz (ABIL) since its foundation in 1978. From 1988 until 2000 assistant scientific director of the ABIL. From 1977 until 2000 cooperation in the organization of the Bruckner Symposiums in Linz. Until 2000 general editorial manager and co-editor of the ABIL publications. Project director and editor of "Anton Bruckner. Ein Handbuch" ("Anton Bruckner. A Manual") (Salzburg-Vienna 1996), editor of "Hans Rott (1858 - 1884). Biography, Letters, Notes and Documents from the Estate of Maja Loehr (1888 - 1964)" (Vienna 2000) and "Max Kalbeck zum 150. Geburtstag: Skizzen einer Persönlichkeit" (Tutzing 2007). Numerous essays and lectures as well as articles for various encyclopedia. |
